Frequently asked questions

Why can't you ship to some states?

Western states and others who require phyto-certificates place restrictions on what plants can come in and out of their states. In order for us to ship there, we have to go through special inspections, pay fees, and maintain a specific license. Unfortunately, as a small nursery, this just isn't possible for us. So at this time, we do not ship to HI, AZ, CA, WA, OR, NM, MT, NV, WY, CO or TX.

How do you ship?

We like to ship in the most cost-savings and safe way possible. At this time, we use UPS (either Ground or 2nd Day Air depending on your location). Our plants are typically sent bare root which means minimal to no dirt and with no pot. Occasionally we may ship in small pots if the plant is young and tender or would not travel well without. Our listings will always communicate this clearly :)

What is the bare root plant shipping process?

We pack with all the love and care we possibly can. Stems and leaves (if not dormant) will be wrapped in paper to protect them from extra damage. When shipped bare root, the root system will be rinsed with water first. Then we will wrap the roots in wet newspaper or other paper. After that, we will wrap the wet paper in a plastic bag and seal it with a rubber band, tape, or twist tie. This prevents the root system from drying out while on its way to you!

Once you receive your plant, keep the paper damp (but not soaked) until you can get it in the ground or repot it! It's that simple :)
